Penalty points loading

Postby CJ » Thu Oct 15, 2009 10:07 am

At what stage does your insurance company start loading your policy in terms of penalty points? My own insurer (Royal Sun Alliance) loads the policy when 7 points are accumulated. This surprised me somewhat, I would have expected to be paying an extra few quid when 4 points are reached.

That seems fairly good alright CJ. I think most companies let you away with the first 2, but after that start loading. I'm open to correction though.

Think its the first 4, again only from what I've heard, no points so no experience with the system.

Anybody got practical experience of this or are those of you with points not declaring them?

I had four a few years ago (on the bike) with Hibernian. No problem with the first two... Got loaded when I hit four. Didn't have to declare them... They knew as soon as I did

How? Thought points went on the registered owner of the car if caught on camera, or whoever was driving when the cops stopped the car.
