Georgie - I totally agree with you..

For now atleast electric cars are a step in the right direction..or well it's a step in a direction..away from fossil fuel cars.. there are still isses that need to be addressed..

anybody ever give anythought to how much of the stuff we use everyday that is made from/with oil or made from something that is made from oil?

I had to say I find it refreshing that electric cars no longer look like a 70s throwback..

there are now TWO interesting options.. the other one being the american telsa(spelling?) that kinda looks like a lotus..

Electric cars have a long way to go yet, battery technology for one needs to take a quantum leap forward. If the Prius for example didn't have 2 very heavy batteries to have to carry around the hybrid car would actually make sense.

It could be urban legend as much as anything else but I believe it - there's rumours around that various technologies have already been invented, years ago, that would revolutionalize energy supply, but the technology was bought up by the ones who would have most to loose, the oil companies.

There's similar rumours about cures for various diseases, etc, bought out by the pharmaceutical companies who would have lost untold money in sales of their medicines.

Sounds very conspiracy theory I know but I wouldn't be shocked if it were true...
