Does anyone have an oil temperature sender?

Postby stevec » Sat May 02, 2009 1:17 pm

Hey folks!

The aircon belt shed a strand and in doing so chopped the wire coming from the oil temp sender.
I nearly had heart failure when it happened - I just heard a sort of 'pop' and when I scanned the gauges the oil temp was reading max

Paul Nolan had a look and doesn't reckon it can be fixed so, as the title says, would anyone have one knocking around or even know where I might start looking?

It's the OEM gauge afaik.

Cheers,
Steve.

Aren't these pretty much universal?

The car's with Paul for the week because I'm on-site and have a company bus at the mo, I'll ring him on Tuesday and see what he says.

I just think it's odd that he wouldn't know this.

Edit: That link is for a water temperature sender Colm, are they the same?

Edit2: Duh - just re-read it "oil and water" :D

Is it the gauge on the dash, or the one where the clock/volt gauge would be otherwise? Dash gauge is water temperature isn't it?

It's the one in the centre pod - same as you sold here a while back.

Any idea if the sender was the same as the one Colm linked to?

I think this may have happened to me also. Could anyone direct me to what I should be looking at here in the engine bay to find this Oil Temp Sender ?
