My new motor has arrived!

Postby adrian » Sat Nov 01, 2008 11:06 pm

Hey all,

Dose of flu, sitting here drinking hot whiskeys, after a long day over in Nottingham collecting my new car. Alot of decision and list making lead me to something that I can carry my 2 kids in, has more then enough power for everyday use and looks the biz!! I love it... it's so so quick up the rev range and an absolute dream to drive... did 200 miles in it today and loved every one... and still have quarter of a tank left for a morning spin tomorrow.

It's a 2004 RX8 231 BHP with 32,000 miles on the clock and a load of extras.... some photos from the advert as I have not got taking any yet....

Very nice, I like it. Are you sure its 2004 though? That registration plate denotes it was registered the later half of 2003..?
Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

What extras are on the car, Adrian - apart from the obvious satnav, leather and sunroof

Welcome to the world of rotary, well wear Adrian. Looks like a really clean example. Just like the FTO and the S2k, you've got to drive it way up the rev range to extract all of that power from the engine.

Madza did a great job of the RX-8 in terms of combining the fun of a RWD coupe with the practicality of usable rear seats. I may very well pick one up myself at some point....

There are heated leather seats, factory sunroof, factory sat nav and reversing sensors on it... all making it a nice place to be.

Did you do a self-import from the UK Adrian ?

I thought that this was starting to become less economically attrative given that Revenue are using inflated VRT rates that do not reflect actual second hand values ?

I did import myself. VRT will be around 6,500 euro. There are not many savings to be made really from the UK anymore.... reason I went for this one is that I would not have got the colour, with the extras with the low miles here.

Yep - valid reasons. I did the same with our A4 Avant. Very hard to find a good number of examples to choose from with the extras you want without going to the UK where the choice is immense.

Yea, come to think of it... it is 4...I have had silver now in FTO GS, S2000, FTO GPX, RX-8.

The Sat Nav is perfect here around Dublin, have not been outside Dublin yet with it though. It's UK and Ireland maps from 2005 on the DVD. Will buy a new one from Ebay soon.

How does the RX8 compare to drive to the S2000 and Tip GPX?

Hey. Hard to compare just yet fully... but it feels alot more refined then the S2000 and the GPX, more definite power and higher rev's then both. The S2000 felt like it could kill you at any time if pushed hard, the RX8 feels alot more forgiving. It feels so much more modern then the S2000 also.... loads of creature comforts and easy to drive calmly and relaxed if needed.
