Air locked windscreen washer??

Postby adrian » Fri Oct 08, 2010 7:50 pm

Hey all,

I have a 2006 X5 Sport and the windscreen fluid ran out a coupleof days ago.. got the alert on the dash. Filled it up but now I only hear the whine of the windscreen washer motor, but nothing's coming out of jets or the headlight jets.

Is it possible I have an air lock or is that just crazy talk?!? Any help appreciated..... and I dont have a leak as the tank is still full!

Thanks Colm. I detached the jet from the bonnet (which turns out to have a heating element in it so it doesn't get frozen over leaving it a bit more difficult) and sucked the water through from the tank... not pleasant, but it did seem to free up any lock in it. Re-assembled and it's perfect again.

However I think I have the same thing to do for the headlight washers now

Thanks for taking the time to look it up for me
