Some of you might be familiar with the A-Wear clothing shop chain but some of you older ones might also remember it started up as 'Gay-Wear' but as 'Gay' started to mean more than just happy in the 70's, they did a very quick rebrand.
That aside Batman and Robin were as camp as a field of tents, that scan from the comic capures it brilliantly :r

I remember being in Grafton St a few (quite a few) years ago and seeing a classic American tourist couple - overweight, Tartan shorts etc and the guy stopped and said "would ya look at that honey, Gaywear" The wife said "It must mean something different here hon"

The changed it to A-Wear shortly after that.

Innocent days.
