Engine Problem

Postby steelroe » Fri Apr 25, 2003 9:58 am

For the past month or so my FTO has developed a problem when the engine is cold. When started cold for the first couple of minutes when you press the accelerator there is a sort of miss from the engine (like the car is running out of petrol. This is like a flat spot where no power is developed. Has anybody encountered this problem and what was the cure. This problem disappears after a coupleof minutes

Long shot, but might it be a problem with the fuel pump or filter?

I had something similar which developped into a full-on misfire. Turned out to be incorrectly gapped spark-plugs that got coked - also worn ignition leads.
