Tappet adjustment

I have the notorious noisy tappet problem and want to get them adjusted. Any idea as to how long this will keep the tappets quiet for and how much it'll cost (roughly)?

Big Dogg, search the forum for 'tappets', this has been discussed quite a few times in the past.
