Postby Gerry » Fri Mar 09, 2012 1:44 pm

Finally got round to fitting my tinted rear lens and giving the car a bit of a clean!

Anybody ever have any trouble regarding tinted lens, are they legal?

You won't have any issue with the tint for NCT. Many modern cars are like this and the indicator will still have an orange tinge.

Is that tint just the spayed on type, or is it a film that has been overlayed ?

That looks really well Gerry. Might drop down later to have closer look if I get time to collect those bits.

Cheers guys,

Its the spray on tint, i searched on here a found the name of a couple of brands that seemed to just flake off after a while, so i stayed clear of them.
A friend of mine applied this stuff i have used on mine to his rear lens about 6 months ago and no flaking yet, so this brand seems ok.
Cant think of the name of it off hand.

I did look for the overlayed tint but could not find any.

I like the enkeis, think the OZs are a bit flash but that's me.

Looking good Gerry, I must do mine one of these days.

I prefer the Enkeis myself.

Def the enkeis

A clear coat over the lenses will stop it wearing off.

Enkei definitely. I would also apply the clear lacquer to guard against fading. Even the best spray on tint fades in about 12-18 months. I have done mine about 3 times including the white reverse light bits and they're back to orange and white at present moment.

Why did you not go the clear areas also ? You should.

Nice job Gerry. Enkeis without a shadow of a doubt, they really suit the overall style of the FTO.

I think i will be the black sheep here. I prefer the OZ by a long shot. The thinner looking spokes on the Enks don't suit as well imo. The photo of the enks is a better pic, which could sway opinion.

My subjective 2 cents (and NOI Gerry) - when I look at the car, all I see is wheels (Oz). In my mind, alloys need to be matched to the car to ensure they don't stand out more than the car itself, to do otherwise detracts from overall appearance. The Enkeis are more subtle and look suitably stock. The outer angular sections on the Oz's are at odds with the FTOs sleek lines and draw your eye to the rims before you've had a chance to take in the entire car.

Cheers for the input guys, i do switch between both set of wheels, i use the enkies in winter.
@Kace, not sure why i didnt spray the clear section of the lens, but yeah it would complete the red effect better now that ya mention it.
