Why are you on your third provisional?
If you say you didn't have time to get a test that's no excuse,
If you failed the test a few times I wouln't insure you either!

Insure under someone else's name (mothers/sisters/girlfriends etc) and list yourself as a named driver. Then get your license asap.

Not saying its strictly legal or anything but 5 grand to insure an FTO is ludicrous.

Wow, you bought an FTO and you're still on a provisional licence, that could be the problem. Its hard enough to get insurance as a full licence holder with full NCB, so to be honest I don't think you have a hope of insuring it yourself. Only option is as myfeckin suggested and get someone else to insure it and put you down as a named driver. Absolutely no point insuring an FTO nowadays for anything more than a grand, as they are only worth about €1,500 (if you're lucky and with a superb example) on the markets now, in the words of Metallica; sad but true.

Hot thread. And it "knew", not "new" :)

Anyway, I hope you get a decent enough price. If your Girlfriend is insured on another vehicle and you're the named driver, you could have her transfer her insurance to the fto. That would bring about the best price, but no guarantees on the renewal price. If you have your full license by the renewal time, it may not be necessary to rob a bank to keep the fto insured. If your Girlfriend is under 30, that will rule out Axa, but they are usually very expensive fot the fto. You could search the insurance thread for all the names of insurers who can insure the fto. I am with Quinn myself. My cousin got a quote of €4,500 with Quinn and he is your age with a provisional. He was also banned. Oh, and his quote was for a 1.8 GS.

Theres a place down in harolds cross that specialises in insuring people that have been banned before. Dont know the name of it but they have a huge poster in their window "cant get insurance? Wel insure you" or something to that effect.
The ONLY 95GR in shocking red with these specific faults.

Was going to say the same thing richard.

The point I was making was that if that information is in front of an insurer they aren't going to touch you with a barge pole and I would be inclined to feel the same if I were them.

Insurance on ftos is tough at the best of times. I'm driving 12 years, no bonus points, no bans, no accidents, and I can't even get a quote for less than 3 times what I'm paying on my diesel car.

Seems a bit naive to expect to get a reasonable price, given your circumstances.
