Would have to check into engine swap. Can't Imagine any major problems. I have never had a look under the hood of a GS.

I will let you both know when I collect the cars. Both are running with frontal damage.

i wouldn't reckon there would be major problems, more the electrics and if you know a good autoelectrician it might be a worthwhile venture!!
depending on the condition of the engine that is!

Rory,

Do you have the back passanger interior panel (i.e the panel that the front passangers seat belt would fit through). Also looking for some of those snap clips that keep the A frame interior covers on? and a front fog lamp switch (same request as adrian).

Thanks
daniel

Aiden, Dave

It won,t be easy but possible, but it will be a lot of work

You'll need both the engine and the tipbox plus both ECU's all the piping and mounting brackets plus the wireing looms, along with the inlet and outlet manifolds plus exhaust and the throttle body/isc valve along with air intake pipe with MAS sensor and all the piping from the aircon Possibly need the inner radiator and fans due to extra cooling required for the bigger engine Also you would require the subframe all the running gear and front axel (this is required as the GS brakes wouldn't be up to the job due to extra power/weight ratio) and possibly the powersteering. which inturn might require the steering colum. And don't forget about all the outer little gubbings you would require like the alternator and best to probably switch fusebox out aswell make it easier than trying to figure out the japenase to add the extra fuses that will possibly be required.

And as with any job there will always be something that will be missed out and need doing but not raise its head till you have it almost done,

Hope this hasn't put you off the idea lads, it will be tricky but i would leave it to a mechenic to do but that could be costly,

Well when most people want to upgrade the power this isn't really the way to go hence turbo conversions and NOS are the cheeper options, and there is still a fair bit of work required when doing a manual conversions like clutch and gearbox fitted changing wireing loom and ECU cutting the bulkhead for the clutch pedal, but as you can see an awful lot easier than a full engine swap, so if i had a gs and wanted to get a GR/GPX but couldn't get a manual if that was what i wanted i would by a good bodywork conditioned tip and take it to giles in england with stg 1,500.00 and get the conversion done.

I was going to do this when my tip box went but giles couldn't locate a GPvR manual box at the time (wanted it for the limited slip diff) but if it ever went again and get the conversion done even with a Standard GPX box

Reckon if my tip box goes that's probably what I'll do - get a manual conversion.

As for more power - I think the best way is to change cars. Then you're getting something with more power that was designed that way from the factory so it has all the bits matched to the power output.

loads of people in the uk have done it, but it'd be tough to get insured with it, unless you just didn't tell them and hope you don't write your car off and the insurance assesor has a look and says what the fcuk is this????
