October Meet & Greet 27-10-12

Postby Bernard » Thu Aug 16, 2012 6:06 pm

To say it's been a quiet year for meets is an understatement, this has to be a record.
In order to address that I propose a meet and greet for the October bank holiday weekend.
We've had a lot of new members join since the last meet and a lot of the older heads could do with getting out of the house for a while.

I know it can be hard to find the time/money for meets these days so let's start the year with an easy one.
If we have enough interest we can include a drive or an activity but for the moment let's start off with meeting for a coffee.

We can meet in the Midway in Portlaoise (where we had the rare Jap meet) on Saturday the 27th at Mid-day.
It's a central location that is close enough for everyone to get to easily, having it early enough on the Saturday also means that you'll still have the rest of the long weekend free.

It'll give everyone a chance to put faces to names and we can all have a nose at eachother's cars.

Here's a couple of pics from the last time we were there.

I'm tied up more than likely on sat morning, Have soccer match for the underage gang of young lads as I'm training them and they have games every sat around 12 but if ye are going to make it an all day or over night might make it later in the day. Would love to go, Meets are the best way to get to know other member's and when we were new member's everyone made us very welcome.

For the moment yes, if there's sufficient interest then I'm open to suggestions.
The reason I suggested just meeting for a coffee is because the meets have been getting less and less interest from members of late.
I think it's partially because a lot of the old heads (yours being one) have moved on and a lot of the new members may not know eachother as well.
I'm hoping if we can meet up for a chat and put names to faces then there might be more interest in a "proper" meet.

Of course I'd happily go for a long convoy followed by an overnighter with lashings of pints and $hittalk with some kind of activity thrown into the mix...
We've loads of time yet though

For anyone that hasn't been to any meets you can have a look some of my pics and videos to get an idea.
I always seem to wind up parked next to your ex (now Goz's) car.

There has been plenty of cleaning done on the day at Midway even after a good clean the night before. T-shirts make for a totally legitimate replacement to Microfibre cloths!
