Tips before NCT?

Postby optical illusion » Sun Apr 25, 2010 10:01 pm

Righto.

Getting headlamps laser alligned (due to new HID's) tomorrow, dipitane has gone in, replacing old crappy exhaust, new radiator, everything else kosher AFAIK.

Test is in Cahir so spirited drive on the way down. Now I hear conflicting arguments, leave it run till I'm called or turn it off on arrival...? Will be asking for no roller tests.

Anything else I should know...? Should I wear something revealing lol :D

May 5th - wish me luck!

A 'proper' drive to the test centre will be required, get your MIVEC out. Switch her off as soon as you park up and cross your fingers!

make sure your rear seatbelts are visible and that the boot is empty, a lot of people forget these ones.

Just passed my 6th NCT at weekend. Only did a few things to prepare :
1) Replaced the CAT
2) Checked all bulbs to make sure you don't fail on something stupid
3) Made sure all tyres were at correct pressure (have had slow puctures from time to time)
4) Have the car nice and warmed up before getting there. All emissions readings and everything else were well within tolerances.

Good Luck !!

I flew through the emissions test when I did mine too, rather see how it fares first before replacing anything (Unless you know its a dead cert to fail of course)

Kace, did you fail previously on emissions, just curious to know why you replaced the cat. Did you buy a new one, if so, was it pricey?

Sorry I should have been clearer - I didn't replace the CAT, I just put the CAT back in, I always run a decat and only put the CAT back in for the NCT. It's out again now.

I failed very miserably on emissions a few years ago but this was fully rectified through the replacement of the O2 Sensor.
