Advice Needed - Land Rover Freelander

Postby Baldrick » Thu Oct 07, 2010 10:59 pm

Hi gang,
I've been asked to recommend/rubbish this motor: http://www.carzone.ie/search/Land-Rover/Freelander/2.0TD4-E/201005196825922/advert?channel=CARS. Personally, I wouldn't touch it. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I was working on a site only Wednesday and there was one of these sitting up next door with half the engine on the ground. Just got chatting to the mechanic and he said the BMW engines give trouble alright, but I think he said the BMW engine are in from 2003 on? Might be just coincidence, but personally I'd stay away from them.

A mate of kine had one a few years back and it kept springing oil leaks, other than that, I wouldn't have anything constructive to add...

I got this model Freelander as a loan car the last time I had the Range Rover Sport in for service (now sold) and it was absolutely a terrible yoke to drive. I believe the newer models have improved considerably.

The new one is great, has a mini range rover feel to it.
