Car cuts out and idles very low

Postby bigdane1390 » Sun May 01, 2011 8:55 pm

In the last 2 weeks my 95 gpx has been cutting out when i start it. even after a long drive when its still warm and i try starting it it will cut out. it revs fine so im not sure wat the problem is. I think its not the airflow sensor because that went in my last car and it wouldnt rev either when i tried startin it. i havnt touched the car internally so i havnt done anything to my knowledge to cause this.
any advice
thanks

Did you check your plugs?
When your driving and you decrease your speed rapidly coming up to lights for example, dies it cut out. If so remove the stepper motor and clean it and reset the ecu

Sounds ALOT like a stepper motor issue..

Follow OIs advice and you should be onto a winner.

As Muad says search stepper motor on the forum. It takes about 5 minutes to take it off clean it and put it back on.
When mine needed a clean it cut out when a I was pulling up to lights.

Search is your friend...Not that you have to, Muad posted links that answer your questions.
Leave it for a while, he might copy and paste into this thread

the reason i wanted to do that was to see if the stepper motor was moving, but if found the problem in the end one of the wires has eroded and snapped so just replaced it and is workin fine now, once again thanks for the help lads

na took very little time, i had to take out the battery and airfilter before taking out the stepper motor. fairly simple. then just gave time for the ecu to reset, that was it. u could have it all done in 10 mins really, i just took my sweet ass time doin it
