[SOLD] Focus ST

Postby TopCat » Sat Aug 24, 2013 3:17 pm

[Update 27/08/'13 - SOLD]

Hi all,

Well I've had this over a year, so that's a long time for me, but ready to move on. So the ST is up for sale.

Got the best ones I could find when buying (an ST2) and added in the leather Recaro seats from an ST3, so it has a great spec. Its been a brilliant car. Comfort, power, and space, its such a good all-rounder. There are a couple of others for sale, but I have it priced to sell, and of course I will offer a little FTO-Ireland discount. And unlike others up for sale, this has 6 months tax left on it, its been a dream every day car.

Other than the leather seats, its completely unmodified (though I did very much consider it), but its a very mod friendly car. A simple chipping will being it up to around 270bhp, and a few other mods and these are well capable of 300+bhp.

Anyway, any questions, do ask. And the ad is below. Thanks for looking,

Tom

Thanks Shane.

I have it priced pretty well, so i'm hoping it won't be for sale too long. Some interest already, and given the condition and price, if someone is seriously looking for an ST, I think they'll find it hard to look past this.

I'm not sure exactly what I'll be getting next, but as soon as it's sold I'll throw a few ideas up here for feedback

Looks like there is a market for this kind of car if you have the price point right.. I had 3 or 4 guys very interested in it. In the end, the first half serious guy who saw it took it!

Let the car shopping begin.. :D

Cheers lads.

So.. I'm looking at going back to the diesels (boo..), but hopefully moving up in years a bit (yey!).

I've no need for 4 doors yet, and I want something that I'll be able to move on again fairly quick if needs be. So nice diesel coupe, a little bit of class... you can probably see where I'm going with this...

Ok.. maybe not. I know, a surprise given my previous history with hairdressers cars! (May as well get that dig in ahead of Bernard and MJ.. :P )

Right now, I'm thinking 3-series, or A5, and leaning heavily toward the A5 to be honest.

Budget will limit it to 2008, early 2009. And given the re-sale factor, I'll probably be going 2.0L. For the A5, the tax is €280 for the 2L, vs €750 for the 3L, which I think is pretty good. But the 3L is €2-3k more VRT (yes, good chance I'll be importing myself), and I'm not sure they will sell as easily, even with the reasonable tax. So, 2.0L it is. So, the money I'd save on VRT, I'm hoping to put toward a better spec.

I know Kace got a beaut, so he might have some feedback, but all comments/advice are always welcome.

Watch this space... :D

If it's diesel your getting, Bmw or Audi(vag) are the best diesel engines out there. I assume the A5 comes with the 2.0tdi engine(170) which don't have the reliability of the older 1.9tdi.

If it's between the A5(3door looks to big to be a coupe imo) and 3series I definitely go the Bmw route even though I drive a VW tdi  . As for resale,2008+ is where the big money is got because of the tax rates like you said.

I think the VW Scirocco beats both of them all day :smt023

Thanks for the comments guys.

The Scirroco was a serious contender before. A friend of mine at work got one, and while I love the styling, and for the driver and front passenger it has really nice interior, the back is really small. I could probably live with that, but then the boot is very small too. I do a bit of cycling, so I need some thing a bit bigger. So hence A5 or 320.

I've had about 4 different 3-series before, so part of me fancies a change, and part of me has just always liked the styling and strong lines of the A5. And, I think the interior of 3-series, even though it has quality, is a touch bland. Don't get me wrong, I'd be very happy with one again, but right now, I'm very much leaning toward an A5.

Scirocco is a real nice car but like you say the A5 looks to be a great all rounder, it's like a sporty A4 which is a great car.

Best of luck buying one :smt023

Yeah, I'll be sorry to see it go myself. I'm having a little trouble with the buyer, hopeful it'll be sorted in the next day or 2, and I'll give ye the details then.

Oh, the RS is a beaut alright, and if I could afford one, it would have to be that lime green, love that color! Crazy money though.
