Snow rope

An alternative to chains / socks if you happen to get caught out in the snow this winter. Operation is dependant on caliper clearance.

Now that is a bloody good idea !! Forget the expensive snow socks and all that jazz. 10mm nylon all the way.

I wonder how long it'd take before you get several feet of rope wound tightly around your hub and calipers.
I'll be sticking to the winter tyres.

I see this as more of a 'get you down to the shops and back' quick fix rather than a long term solution, no doubt the rope will eventually fray and snap if used on tarmac for an extended period.

Cable ties work great on bicycle wheels, apparently.
