Testing the water, would it sell?

Postby Sgt_Major » Mon Jul 18, 2011 2:17 pm

Thinking about selling my FTO.

Would it sell for £1200?

1995 GR manual in white
120k ish on the clock - 80 is in KM's (previous owner didnt roll the clock when converted to mph)
undersealed

Modifications since I bought it 3yrs ago:

17 in black alloys (4 brand new tyres on - 2 pirelli on the front and Kumho on the rear)
new clutch
Upgraded front brake discs and pads from a gpx - still plenty of wear
full suspension change - new shocks and 30mm lowering springs
Sony bluetooth stereo
Glow dials that display in mph/kph
Serviced in last 6 weeks
MOT til Nov 2011
Tax til Aug 2011

Bad points:
Paintwork needs some tlc - minor rust spots and paintchips
back brakes need changed, discs and pads. Would consider doing before sale.

Can't think of anything else at the minute.

I also replaced the shock top mounts recently.

Hard for us down south to call it. The market down here is fecked with bonkers insurance and stupid tax.
Don't know how values have suffered up there but I would assume a buyers market would favour gpx and gpvr models

if your selling it would be good to say wether or not it needs the timing belt dont. personally I wouldnt spend 1200 on a v6 fto that would need it done this year or next as its over 350 in parts and labour. would you do a wheel swop b4 ya sold?

Timing belt will need done in about 15,000 miles.

No wheel swaps, no. Would de-value the car.

I'm sure some cash along with a set of 16inch OEs would put a big hole in your 1200GBP asking price and would make your FTO easier to sell.

thats no problem about the wheel swop I would have been doing myself outta 4 BF goodridge so not a good deal for me I just fancied a change. well I dont wanna put your car down but 1200 is a lil much considering there just a years worth of drivin b4 the belts tensioner and water pump will need done then you say about rusty bits. apart from it bein manual there not much going for it. btw I doubt swoping a set of 17s for a diff set of 17s would devalue your car. if you wanted to put value on the car get the origional wheels. no one pays extra to have 17s on a 2nd hand car. it needs wheels or it aint a car

more than likely yea it would. remember what wheels you have on the car now aint what is ment to be on it. they where the wheels you chose and maybe not everyones cup of tea. plus std 16" tyres are about £10 a corner cheaper
