CJ, might be worth your while trying Britton insurance http://www.brittoninsurance.com
as recommended in a previous post by Steelroe. They are one of the few insurers who will issue an quote (to me at least) for the FTO online. Although you practically have to tell them your life story to get a quote...they really do seem to look for a excessive amount of info.
That said I doubt they'll be a competitive as QD.

That's a bloody good quote for only 2 years NCB - I was gonna be paying €800 TPF&T with 5 years NCB with Quinn....

Make/Model: VW Golf GTI 1.8T
Age: 30
Licence: Full 6 years
NCB: 5 years

Full Comp with NCB protection: €1052

With Axa - and claims resulting from Fire or Theft will not effect the NCB which is sweet.

You're right on that point Mustang, they want €3600 off me for FC
Get this, the hilarious bit is that they quoted me €3300 for an EVO V, €3000 for a Supra TT and €2600 on a WRX STI, what the f**k is all that all about!!

Thats whats killing FTO resale values in Ireland - absolutely stupid and out of context quotes - the above quote is not unusual across the various Insurance companies - When I priced an EVO 5 insurance quote - the best price I got was €1600 fully comp - while my FTO is costing me €1700 TPF&T. It looks like the FTO is gonna continue to be a rare sight on our roads. I'd love to know what the insurance companies motives are for such a high loading on the FTO in comparision to all other FWD coupes.

CJ, that's just not funny
I think part of the problem is that, as the fto was never officially imported into Ireland, ther is no Irish model version, so the insurance companies maybe do not have (or bothered to get) correct or complete information on it, and as a consequence they just use a default (high rating).
Particularly the way in which all models are grouped the same, is really annoying. In this context the gs seems like a very expensive (insurance) option relative to the cars performance.
Around this time last year (with about 9 months until my insurance was up for renewal again) I got the following additional 3rdPF&T premium quotes:
FTO GPX ~€1050, Prelude 2.2L ~€1100, 200sx ~€1050, FTO GS €500,
Prelude 2L €500. Seemed reasonable enough at the time. This cover was with allianz through a broker. But as allianz would not renew, come the end of term the broker would arrange alternative cover. Indicative renewal quote was €3600, same price for GS as GPX

Just tried the Britton site again myself. Based on a manual GPX I got a quote of €2100 FC (I think). For the EVO V, I got the following €3200 3rdPF&F, €3400 FC.
Arguably, the two evo quotes (yours and mine) are quite similar. But your FTO quote seems to be way out in this context  :?:

I did Dave yea, and it was pretty good - cant remember the figure but it was approx just over 4k which is better than most of the places I tried (average 4500 or so) but still pipped at the post by that intersure place who shocked me with that 3750 quote.

Sad state of affairs really when im actually glad to be throwing 3.7k down the drain!

Having just received this year's renewal I would definitely say that the only thing that has really cost me time and money over the years (6) is getting the insurance sorted. After changing companies last year and getting back below the almost plausible 1kEUR mark, I was disgusted when my renewal came in at 1600EUR !!!! This is for 34 year old with about 10 yrs no claims.

Back to the drawing board for me this year once again !!!

My targets are :

Coyle Hamilton (my old broker where we have a company deal)
O'Reilly Cullen
Some other broker that utilises St Pauls

Anyone got any other suggestions ....

Insurance makes no sense..... my insurance on the S2000 rose by 600 euro this year!! I am a year older, a years extra no claims, the car is a year older and the premium jumps like that!?! Granted, I am married to a staff member in the insurance company and so I get some staff discount but still and all it's mad that it can jump so much.
