[Event] Irish Rotary Rolling Road Day [23 May 2009]

May 23rd, Me and the guys at Irish Rotary are having a rolling road day, at xtreme autos, Witches Lane, Waterford.


Unfortunately i won't be running on the RR, as my car is still not re-mapped..

The price is 60 euro Per car, aslong as it's not 4wd, i think it's 80 if it's 4wd!
It'll be starting at 9:30am,and running till we run out of cars.

Give it a while Lee theyr'e a bit preoccupied with arrangements for Rising sun meet and Lahinch at the mo! Probably like myself people are waiting to see who else is gonna go to this :?:

Would have liked to give this a go. unfortunately I'm workin that weekend :evil: Can an automatic be run on the dyno, read somewhere it can be problematic?

It can be difficult to get accurate figures due to slippage in the torque convertor.

No harm in getting a baseline figure before you start modding, I'm sure you're curious to know whet power the motor is making!

thanks gary!!! @CJ had the car done 2 yrs ago 197.1bph and 147ft/lb torque. not bad figures for a standard car :D i dotn think my exhuast will be here in time now :( might be here friday, will have to bribe one of the lads to fit it if it comes!

great turnout today...days started off a bit dodgy weatherwise but after a hefty feeding from dominos it cleared up into a great day!!! lovely to see the sun out!!

In total on the rolling road was 3 rx7's 2 Rx8's my fto, a standard Sir Civic and a supercharged cam.

will post pics when lee uploads them to irishrotary.com

Not as good as I would have hoped (considering the engine is in tip-top condition) , I would have liked to see a second run for comparison purposes:

214.9bhp @ 8728rpm (166mph), 147.3lbft @ 5872rpm (stock 228bhp / 156lbft)

The power result is 101bhp less than the last rotary I ran on the same dyno!

Edit: just did some research on dynoing the RX-8 (albeit too late). The DSC was on, it should be off (can impact on readings). Also, there RX-8 has an adaptive ECU map function that changes based on driving conditions, you need a couple of runs to initiate the maps that sacrifice fuel consumption for power. Apparently, its difficult to get consistant dyno results from the 8 on this basis. Lesson learned...
