Annual NCT for cars 10 years and older commencing 1.06.11

Postby Sebastian » Mon Jun 06, 2011 5:33 pm

Annual NCT for cars 10 years and older commencing 1st June 2011.

Some of the new rules HERE

All cars four years and older must undergo an NCT. The NCT due date is calculated by reference to the date of first registration of the car with tests due every two years for cars younger than 10 years.

Annual NCT for cars 10 years and older commencing 1st June 2011. This means that all cars presented for their 10th anniversary or subsequent NCT on or after 1st June 2011 will receive a certificate valid for up to one year only

Remember: your NCT certificate will expire after the registration anniversary date regardless of when you take the test so there is no advantage in delaying it.

The following chart will help you determine what year your vehicle is due in for its NCT.

Worth noting that if your test was due before June, you'll only get the year.
If you put it in for test in the last 4 weeks you can retest it and get 2 years.

I think the annual testing isn't a bad thing as you can keep on top of things as opposed to having terminal problems like rust after 2 years gap

true , but why not cut the test taxes to half now that you are obliged to do it yearly opposed to 2 years ?

I think 50 quid is a fair price to put your car through all the machinery they have. The nct system has come under criticism lately but if they iron out the bugs and have consistency between lanes then I can't see the problem. As it is, I don't think they're making much money out of testing relative to the numbers being tested. Halving the test fee isn't realistically gonna happen
