Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Warrior - 2.5 TD

Postby adrian » Tue Aug 28, 2007 8:31 am

Hey,

Thinking of selling the Hilux as I mentioned before. I was looking in to the whole 2001 or 2002 X5 idea, but it just might be a bit rich at the moment…. A few other things on at the moment I need money for. So, still wanting a Jeep type motor I am starting looking at other options. I have thought of the Honda CR-V, Kia Sorento type options but it’s not really ringing my bell. I have always liked the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Warrior. I could get a 2004 low enough miles one from the UK on the road for around 21,000 euro. This is like around 14,000 cheaper then a decent 2001 X5 diesel…. So makes a bit of sense really.

Has anyone any experience of these or know anything about them? How do they drive? Are they reliable?

Some examples are:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/226063.htm (this would be like the one I am thinking of)

Thanks all,

Adrian

I'm selling a twin cab Hilux (probably, when I decide, maybe!)

the 2.5 is very underpowered and heavy enough on fuel, try a 3.2 DI-D regular Pajero instead.

A regular jeep (pajero 2.8TD, Landcruiser etc) will always be a better drive than something thats basically just a small truck like the Mitsubishi Warrior - 2 mates of mine have these - the rear leaf springs don't do anything for onroad handling and they're not as good as a regular Paj offroad either. Paj Evo ( on this forum) recently went up a very steep mountain track in his Paj Evo to get to a transmitter on top of a mountain and my mate in the Warrior had to give up half way up and jump in the Paj - which sailed up like it was going downhill.

What exactly are your requirements for a jeep - looks? performance? onroad/offroad handling? Diesel/petrol preference?

Try and get a Land Cruiser 3.0 D-4D if your budget can strech to a newer one. 4WD system far superior to the Mitsubishis, and it runs in full time 4WD so no tail happy antics.
On the other hand, you'll get a higher specced Pajero for less money...

Slightly OT but: what sort of warranty did you get on the Vigo?

Was just wondering as some importers are doing warranties. just curious.
It may be tricky to sell an 06 without warranty, as supply of Irish and UK spec models has increased.
Love the different headlights and foglights.

Land Cruiser might be a bit heavy duty for what you need. Nissan Pathfinder do anything for you. 2.5 is supposed to be quite good in them.

I heard some importers were buying warranties for Hilux Vigos.
Don't know what exactly the warrantries cover. I know Toyota Europe won't entertain any warranty claims on them, and I've seen a few come in to us with problems with retro-fitted heater rads and ECU problems.
