After spending a month trawling through different companies on the internet and in the phonebook the best price I've come back with is 1600 euro with three years full license and no claims. What to do?

Try getting someone else insured on it and putting you down as a named driver if nothing else works.
Did you try xs direct? Not sure if they quote cars older than 10 years and the xs is 4K, but if no one else will quote you then its worth a shot.

i just checked as i have motor trade insurence i never checked.

www.bestquote.ie gave me a quote for €1199 and iv got full lie for 11 years ,no points ,no claims.

i can insure a 2003 bmw 323i coupe for €400.

I have the same stats as you and got it for 810 and I'm was only 23 back in feb from quinn.
If they say they don't insure ftos go in personally and talk to a manager. As their 2 faced on the phone and tend to take a different attitude when your in front of them
