CJ, you should really consider puttin google ad words on the site... you would get a nice few quid I would say.... and they are not very annoying advertising really...

Hear what you're saying Adrian, I've been considering the sponsorship / trader route, Google ads aren't that intrusive but I was under the impression that they only pay on on click-throughs?

Does anyone have any comment on the visual impact of Google ads?

Ads on the main page or even discreetly placed on the forum wouldn't bother me at all.
The ones I can't stand are the ones that scroll with you, or pop-ups like you see on Topgear.

I'm going to look at putting Google Ads on the top forum page to start with (assuming the site is accepted into the program) to see how it looks.

The site is kept running by donations, shop purchases and from my own pocket, as such, I don't see any big problem with including inobtrusive ads on the forums to add to the coffers.

For those of you unfamiliar with Good Ads, this is what they look like:

Thanks for the idea Adrian :)

CJ, I have them in www.PWCIreland.com and the forums on that site....
They are pay per click.... it doesn't even fund the site to be honest....as there are not a huge amount of hits anyway anymore....

Thanks for the idea Adrian :D

You're welcome!

I'm sure none of us would mind sitting down clicking through ads for a few minutes a day... one potato, two potato....

They actually monitor click and trends and do not pay for ones that they have doubt over... like a number of successive clicks from the same PC etc etc. It is quite clever.

Google Ads in place. They're not too in your face and I'm sure that forum regulars will subconsciously block them out of view in no time!

The adwords have really stretched the width of the page here in work. The www.FTO-ireland.com symbol and the adwords are side by side.
It makes the page wider than the monitor which means I have to keep scrolling when reading threads. :?
Is this happening to anyone else?

Yea, happening to me too. CJ, maybe try to reduce the width of the adwords area in the configurator.
