My experience with Quinn

Was in no way a negative one, got quoted twice, over the phone no bother, and many times over the net.

So heres the low down:

Female
23 years old
0 Full Licence year
0 NCB
1 year Named driver experience
GPvR
Induction Kit
Fully Comp

My cost of insurance on a 1.3 Felicia TPFT = 745
My cost of insurance on a FTO FC = 1350 (air filter upped it a bit)

Jealous much?

All they said they wanted to know about modifications were 2 things: Whether anything has been done to enhance the performance of the engine, or whether it was lowered.

In saying that though, as soon as I can I’m outta there…

What is the story with Quinn Direct and their variation in quoting and refusing quotes to people.

I had a 32 year old lady onto me today who was looking for info on purchasing a FTO. She is going to look at a Tip GPX on sunday. Is asked her if she had checked if her insurance would change and get this.
"I rang Quinn and they quoted me €400 fully comp". New customer.

I cannot understand how missus CJ and others are getting silly quotes or in most instances none at all.
I wonder if this is one for the ombudsman.

I've never been able to get a quote on the FTO from them, either over the phone or online.
I was with them before I purchased and that's the reason I left

Will people please stop saying that to me.

This is QUINN we are talking about here, the Quinn that will do their best to screw you square in the ear whenever the opportunity arises. If I crash and I haven't declared an induction kit, then Quinn don't pay out, simple as.

I rather pay the extra few bob for peace of mind. And the noise off it.

make sure its on ur paperwork! i know a fella who had a gtr r33 claimed all mods inc induction kit, car was robbed company said they'de pay out... then decided no they wouldnt cause he had "engine mods" not declared.

If its not on ur paperwork they will try and get away with sayin u didnt claim it should the unthinkable happen!

With Quinn myself, but bear in mind its a GS. About €650 TPFT if I remember right (just under €500 for my home address back in Mayo).
Male, 25, 5 year NCB. That being said, I'd always look to go somewhere else if I get a half-way reasonable quote, Quinn are notorious for not paying up, so I take Optical's point about declaring the induction kit.
I, on the other hand don't know much about car so don't know that there's an induction kit and lowering springs on mine.
@ Dan
Outta interest, have you declared your mods and if so what kinda difference does it make on price?

If thats the case I reckon most of the cars on here are technically uninsured. Has everyone declared their uprated brakes? their springs? their panel filter? their rims? exhaust? etc. If quinn want to default your insurance they will find a way easily. I had to claim recently (and a claim against me) and I had no NCT, and car was modded with springs, exhaust, filter etc. no hassle.
It's fair enough your taking the safe route. I think what they are really after is mods like a turbo or supercharger.

Or a different engine, like throwing a 2.5 into it or something.
