Took one for a test drive today at westeren motors in drogheda...

Fantastic ride -firm but not too hard..

Good smooth power delivery from the 2l tsi engine..

Interior is as you'd expect in any VW - nice but a tad understated..

The lines of the thing - it's just gorgeous... I wish they'd made it rwd..

200bhp according to the papers - and I'd say they're all there..BUT - I don't think it's as quick as the Corsa OPC or even the FTO..it would make of an interesting comparison though..

Helpful dealer man informed me that the new golf will be on show new weekend in all VW dealerships ROI-wide...

It'd want to be something fairly spectacular to even be level with the Scirocco cause styling wise it really leaves most other cars that are currently on the marked for the same price with similar spec well and truely in the dust..

Yeah, love the look of these, reminds me of the Corrado, subtle, but aggressive. Glad to hear they drive well too.

I did have a bit of an "oh no" yesterday evening..

I was thinking the car was going to be quite exclusive as it is a tad on the pricy side (33k+) for the base without haggling too hard..

but lo-and-behold..

upon arriving in Ikea s multistory car park - there it is..
