Wet vac needed for my jeep...

Hey,

My XC90 had blocked sunroof drains (common problem I have since found out) and alot of water got into it with the recent heavy rain. I got all the water out and the drains unblocked but there is about 5 inches of foam under the carpet that is soaking. I need to get a wet vac powerful type thing... anyone know where I could get this or have any other releated advice?

I have a carpet cleaner thing - that essentially is a vet vac with a brushy thing at the end...

Only thing is - it's an upright...

so I'm not sure how much use it would be to you in the car - if you look in the new argos catalogue, turn to page 798..What I have is an older version of that...it's less fancy looking but it does the same job..

If order for it to suck water you - all you'd have to do is to not full the water supply tank - it'll suck water up into it's "dirty water" tank..

Thanks a million for the offer! Has it fairly decent suction as the foam is quite deep and so to get the water out of it good suction would be needed. Fair play to ya for the offer!

Oh, also... anyone know where to rent dehumidifiers from?

hmm - I dunno to be honest I've only used it once at it's pretty good on carpet, the housey type.. but then the water had only been sitting on it for a couple of hours.. I still had to let the carpets rest for 12hours after ward to let them air dry...

I'd try general tool hire places first.

If that fails, this might be a bit of a long shot, but might be worth looking into... I know that a lot of carpet/timber flooring places rent them out to people who are buying timber floors. This is generally because of the sensitivity of timber to moisture content causing it to shrink/expand, and new houses tend to be humid (damp). Hence, they often rent out dehumidifiers to people for a week prior to installation. (Ideally this should be done at a more natural rate by gentle heating and airing the house rather than by mechanical means, but thats off the point).

might be better to remove the seats, leave the engine running for a few hours, with full heat the A/C on and the air set to recirc
