Centre dash and doors

Postby StewyD32 » Sun Mar 07, 2010 11:53 pm

Thought I'd steel an idea I seen from the Carlow meet (thanks johnk and elaine :P ), and colour the top centre dash of me car the same as the body.... Burgundy wine.
So went to Halfords and got a can of primer and the paint for 16 euro and did it.
I had some left over so i thought i'd do the doors as well and don't think its that bad for 16 euro

Nice job stewy, nice tidy finish as well. Looks well. Did you put a laquer on it as well? Especially on the top part of the centre console, cause the sun hits there and the heat will cause the paint to crack a bit, about 3 coats of clear laquer should do it. (Not 'satin' as someone I know used.... )

Remove the screws indicated on the above picture (1-5).
When removing screw 5, remove the plastic oval part behind the door lever and you will see more screws. I think there is one larger than others. Remove that and you can remove the whole compartment then after you unclip the wires for electric windows and central locking .
From there is it very easy to undue the plastic part of the door and the handle to prime and paint if you want. (just unscrew more screws  )

2 coats of primer and paint. I still have to lacquer it, but it might be too shiny so i'll wait and see if if cracks.
