Handbrake imbalance

Postby ek9 » Fri May 07, 2010 7:20 pm

Any advice lads, my gpx just failed it's retest with a 56% imbalance on the handbrake.
Exactly the same as before. The garage that had it were convinced the problem was sorted, Discs and pads were scorched so changed them and tightened the cables.

Going to order new cables for it but was wondering if anyone had any other ideas what would be causing it. I doubt the calipers are to blame as the rear brake test was fine.

Failing that ..anyone want to lend me a black fto for the retest! :smt003

I think if the cable on one side has been streched it could cause this

Thanks guys, I'm going to tax it during the week and it'll probably be a daily driver after the alternator is done.. I got a great price on a full respray so i'm going to do that sometime over the next couple of months. I'm tempted to go canary yellow  , any views on this? I'll strip it first anyway so the colour change won't be much of an issue, I'd do the underside of the bonnet but leave the rest of the bay black.

I wouldn't go with any stong colours unless you are going to add some kind of a bodykit - I think an OE look FTO should have more subdued colours - something like a charcoal or gun metal grey - it will also make the FTO any easier to sell on when the time comes.

If I was going to paint an FTO yellow - it'd have to have a Phatt look to pull it off - e.g. - (ignore the stupid gull wing doors).

I'm definitely sticking with the oe look, If I don't go with the yellow, I'll probably stick with the original black. I was half tempted to go with the s2000 gun metal grey but I want to stay with an oe colour.

I like the lambos. They suit the FTO doors as they're frameless, not like putting them on a Golf or a Punto.

Yup seen that pic loads of times, but like I said, they suit frameless doors such as FTOs or MR2s, not doors with frames like golfs or puntos.
Interesting to see what raptor doors would look like, far as I know there is no aftermarket kits for raptors for any car.
