02 BMW 318ci M-Sport

Hi all,

Been a while but you guys have always been a great source of information! I have been driving a 1.4 focus since I sold my GPX when going back to do my Masters. Now looking to change the car and looking at something more substantial. Was looking at a 02 BMW 318ci M-Sport at the weekend for €3,000. It has 89k miles on the clock and is a cracking looking car but it comes with no service history (major red flag I know). Thing is I have a v good mechanic who will give it a once over but I know nothing about these cars or what to look out for.

The same dealer is also selling a 03 BMW 320d with 115k miles on the clock and a full service history for an extra €500 or a 03 Golf 1.9D with 130k miles for €3,500. I'd be happy with any of the 3 but would really like the M-Sport. Anyone have anything to say about this good or bad? In each case he is only giving a 2 month engine & gearbox guarantee due to the age of the cars but they are fully serviced on sale.

I was intially looking for an Audi A4 (2001-2003 due to funds). Should I stick to looking for a suitable Audi or go with one of the 3 above?

Cheers all

I would go with the BMW. Much easier to source parts if needed and I used to own a 2001 318iSE. Lovely car to drive.
97 Manual GPX. Icecelle Blue.
Other Stuff: Induction kit. Front Strut. Apex Lowered. 17" Kahns. Quad exhaust. HID lights. Glow dials and rings/cups. Black leather seats. Window tints. Sunroof.
