Anyone up for a quick mini meet??

Postby Daz » Thu Jul 07, 2016 12:48 pm

Alright lads/lasses

I'm making a flying vist.. and i mean flying visit as its just for one night to Ireland on the 16th this month. Now me being me instead of flying for this flying visit i'm going by boat so i can drive my new baby!!! No i'm arriving in dublin docks at 12.10 (probably 12.30 by time i get of) so was wondering if anyone was up for a quick meet now depending on whos intrested and where their based it could be the petrol station in the docks or somewhere on route to carlow or carlow itself. Now when i say a quick meet. It because i'm comming over for a party sat night so will only have a few hours before i got to go and well party :D and sunday will be a no go as i'll be up late and straight the boat for afternoon sailing. But that doesent mean you cant start a meet on sat without me, and carry on after i have to leave. But if anyone is up for it let us know

I'm up for it - so Saturday 16th July at about 12:30.

How about this - Daz comes off the Ferry and we meet and go for a quick coffee - perhaps Starbucks in Point Village or maybe Lidl carpark on East Wall Road. BIt of tyre kicking and chat.
Then Tunnel Run escort of Daz to the M50 so he can hit off to Carlow.

Easy and quick - fine with me if anyone else is around.

Daz, welcome back, its been a while (a long one at that), glad to see you're still flying the FTO flag. I'm afraid that I'll be on holiday when you're over but hope that you manage to meet up with a couple of the guys. I note you've recently purchased another FTO, best of luck with it and watch out for those turbos!

OK given that the new Starbucks on East Wall Road hasn't opened up yet, the Garage at the Port is probably the most convenient place to meet up with a bit of parking space.

It's here https://goo.gl/maps/93ChEhscEhv

OK so it's looking like there will be 4 of us there then in total (at least - someone else may surprise us, who knows). I have also recruited a friend who has a car that is as interesting as the FTO, so he will come along too.

So Daz - we should aim for about 12:30 then - is that what best suits your Ferry crossing time ? Can you PM me your mobile number so that we don't lose you.

Apologies for the delay, I was enjoying the weather. :P The mini meet went well, loads of Garda presence in the port not sure what was that about, handed one of the officers at the checkpoint near the port my credit card instead of my driving licence! It was great to meet the guys, took good few pictures - mostly of the blue beauty (or beast??) - the car deserves a thread of it's own!

The tunnel run has put a huge smile on my face, I thought that all cars sounded great but hearing the blowoff valve hissing sounds coming out of FTO was something else! :D

Here is few snaps:

So yea a good day had, an early start for me up at 4am. But the journey to holyhead was ok several tunnels on route and most 70mph limit, so plenty of dump valve action to keep me entertained  so got to ferry ok and thats where the fun started, they put me in the lane for lower deck despite me telling them it was a no-go with how low i am. So they try to load me and low and behold i can't do it... they try to get me to go anyway to which i replied ok but when the bumper breaks you will be buying me a new one along with full respray so no colour miss match.... guess what happend then... they made me reverse and sent me back off the boat and up to the top deck.
Anyway rest of journey uneventfull arrived in dublin safe and sound. Off the boat and to the garage to meet the lads. Thankfully weather held up so the cars looked great!!! So tyre kicking and coffee drinking ensued!!
Then came the good part the tunnel run... said it before and i'll say it again sound of the maserati...AWESOME!! Now temeeo got it right they all sounded good and i had a huge smile on my face, unfortunatly that was it then short and sweet as we parted ways but worth every second....

Unfortunatly no pic of the maserati

Good to see everyone guys. Here are my highlights from the day.

- Temeeo's car was so red and shiny the cops pulled him over on the way in
- The Daz machine is larger than life, just like the man himself. The seats, the engine bay and the alloys / tyres are a sight to behold. This really is the FTO of dreams. It will look so much better with the new roof rack connected solidly to its roof
- I have attached a rear picture of the Masterati V8. The sound of this exhaust is a couple of octaves lower than that of an FTO, so is amazing. The thing will set off every alarm in any underground carpark in Dublin :smt002
- Unfortunately the tunnel run was marred by a shedload of bloody tourists coming off the ferry  but we did our best to get the best engine effects possible
- I only have Daz on video at the very beginning (he's stuck behind a tourist and bringing up the rear), but you can hear his turbos dumping (not sure what the technical term is) throughout the video
- I also don't have the Maserati sound on video, although he does whizz by at one point

I think I will do one more tunnel run on a quiet day before the average speed devices kick in.

Kace... Great vid mate, didn't realise my dump valves were that loud!!!
But judging on your vid i'm begining to think it wasn't the maser i heard in the tunnel but YOU!!! I am assuming the exhaust sound in the vid is you if so it was your FTO donimating the tunnel run... what system is that  sounds awesome :D
