Hi all.

Postby Sean_95D » Wed Feb 17, 2016 4:23 pm

Hi all FTO owners. Just joined the owners club despite having owned my FTO 2ltr v6 (non mivec) for the last 2 years.
I am based in Co.Galway and wondering are there any other owners in the area.
Any runs or meets planned for the spring/summer.
Rgds. Sean.

Welcome to the club. FTO meets have cooled down in the last couple of years. The last meet I know of was nearly 2 years ago and was a mini meet of 3 ftos and another member in a different car.

This is a great place regardless and worth popping in every now and again. I don't know who has an FTO in your area at the moment. I'm a bit outside the scene the last while.

Welcome to the small club chaps.

Are you guys getting insured OK ? Got my renewal today and they are really clamping down on imports - prices even being hiked up when insured as classics

@ peewee - insurance has never been easy on the FTO, but it's always possible to get it insured. I'll be selling mine if you're looking. I want to have it running though before I advertise it. Theres a huge thread about the car on here. It's 10 pages long.

10 pages  I do remember my first wasn't easy to insure, yes everything can be insured if you have the money or prepared to be raped, driving too long at this stage to be raped. :k
When you say not running, what's the issue/s.

It was off the road. Battery died and alternator belt snapped in December. I ordered a new belt yesterday and will put in a new battery. Otherwise, she's ready to go. I want her going to someone who won't drive her into the ground, so I can honestly say I just won't sell her to some young lad looking for a joy ride. She's had too much gone into her for that.

The oil just arrived from Opie Oils this morning. She had an oil change before being laid up and will be getting another one before she goes.

I always get the Motul 8100 as recommended by oilman for the fto. Its also perfect for the zafira too, which is handy. I have always made sure to put good oil in and change it regularly. I install quick valves on all my cars to drain the oil more easily. Great yokes.

Quick Valves? Never seen such a thing.

I would a big advocate of regular oil changes.
Always use a OEM filter and branded oil at 5,000 miles no matter what yoke I drive, bike or car.

Look up "Fumoto Oil Drain Valve", Goz has put me onto them and now it's one of the first things that I get after buying a new car! I don't need a single tool to change my oil and oil filter now so there are no excuses when the time to change the oil comes.

Very handy if you overfill too!
