Picked up my new motor this evening and took some photos...

Hi all,

So the S2000 has been replaced, by something I have to say I prefer. It's a 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 3.6. Sweet motor. Just had a great blast back from Belfast in it. I can feel a fun summer coming on if this weather continues! Pictures at:

Talk later,

Thats a VERY classy looking car - well wear Adrian.
Good colour and interior to boot and its a Carrera 4 which won't be as tail happy as the RWD 964's of the same era.

Well wear - any observations of how it is to drive compared to the S2000 yet?

Good job Adrian, have fun with it :smt023 I'd be interested to her your impression of the car in comparison to some of the other models you've driven i.e speed, acceleration, handling, comfort etc.

Looks like theres more rear leg room in a 911 than an FTO!

Bit early to say as I was pretty nervous. First observation is torque! Shane said about the S2000 once on here that there was not enough torque low down and he was right... you are hopping in your seat waiting for 6k revs in the S2000 for VTEC to kick in... with the 911 it's even from minute one. Feels much quicker too. Cornering is like nothing I've ever been in... I had no idea that 4WD can be as effective. The roads were dry and really windy but not a bother... you don't even sway in your seat cornering at 60 or 70. I hit 110 mph coming out of Belfast in 4th gear just to blip the throttle... just for abour 5 seconds on a quiet motorway I had loads left. I slowed down pretty quick though, scary stuff. Passing out is amazing too compared to the Honda. I was kinda waiting for the VTEC type surge but it's just there all the time. Amazing amazing amazing.

Sounds amazing - fair play for taking the plunge. I think you've got a really sweet car there and worth every penny - I'd love to have taken the plunge. Maybe next summer ;)

4wd really is great isn't it ;) How does it work on the 911? It's something I never investigated - is it permanent, what's the balance front to rear.

I'll definitely be keeping in touch to see how you get on and (unlike with the S2000) I definitely want a first hand look at this beauty 8)

Dunno exactly yet details of how it works, but there is a knob you can change to make it more to the front or back and you can also lock both diffs etc....and yes, it is permanent

Sweet - that's the way it should be - the TT only pushes power to the rear when it detects slip at the front - this can result in a shift mid-corner which is a bit un-nerving. I think there's a haldex upgrade that sends power rearwards earlier, expensive though...
