Hows the quotes

Postby Peewee » Wed Feb 10, 2016 7:02 pm

Hi Guys, Newbie here, was lurking for awhile then did the intro.

I think its a bit quite round here so I'm hoping there might be an answer to my question, as I said in my intro last time I looked a getting another FTO the insurance quotes were crazy, so my question is has it changed or are you guys still getting CRAZY PRICES for quotes.

Whats your experience folks? :smt005

The big players are asking crazy money. You're best of contacting a broker. My current policy purchased through Munster Group is about €840 (Fully comp, 34 years old, 0 penalty points, 8 years NCB) the underwriter is Octane/Prestige. Also got very similar quote from Quote Devil. Simply Insure who I've been with for the last two years were quoting this year about 1100 and wouldn't budge.

Try the following:

Campion Insurance
Munster Group
Quote Devil

Thanks for the reply Temeeo, that's a bit rich for me, but I have a few years on you so I might give them a whirl.
I also have a classic policy and am wondering if I buy an FTO would it go on the classic policy.

Classic is definitely the way to go. FTO on its own for me would still run at about €1100 (assuming no NCB as that's used for my main motor) but I'm insured with Campion for €200 instead.

Let us know how you get on.

Good stuff Kace I think I used Campion before for classic insurance but for one car only, so if I find an FTO and look for a multi car policy, this is what I'm thinking.
What way are you running policy/policies. :smt023

I have a personal policy for my daily driver. Campion then covers the FTO as a classic. I'm not actually sure if they definitely require you to have another primary car - I think so though. Mileage also needs to be kept below 5k per year I think, although there is no way they could ever police this.

I think that you must have a daily driver with all the companies, mine is the same with Autoline with a 5K mileage limit, I was thinking about this today I was only ever asked by one company for the mileage.
I was thinking they would check the mileage on an NCT report if you were in a bang and you better hope your mileage is under the 5k. :k

Campion will renew me this year (as expected) however their underwriters raised the price by €100 and wouldn't budge on it. She also told me that she probably wouldn't be able to quote new business just in case I left them and then tried to come back.

I also tried Carole Nash today and they won't insure an FTO any more as new business.

Need to find a decent broker out there I think.

I think all insurance has gone up this year, so €100 is probably light from what some increases im hearing are.
I got a quote from Campion yesterday €1324 TPFT  Lucky I was sitting down.

Where are they going with the prices?

Phoned up 123 for renewal quote for the wife today as they had been competitive in the past. Quoted almost €200 more than my current amount so had to laugh when the guy told me. Definitely going crazy out there.

Renewal quote of 1870 coming in from Patrona this year.

May just point my FTO at the sea & put a brick on the accelerator.
