ok
So got my renewal quote from Quinn yesterday
EUR 1264 - TFT

following few of the lads here , i asked my other half today to call a few other agencys and get some quotes ...maybe maybe.

Here are the answers /quotes rather funny i'd say :

Eagle Star :
- you must have 3 years NCB minimum ! ( bull$hit as i had my first insurance on my mk3 golf with them )

123.ie
- we are brokers and we do not insure a car older than 10 years and with value less then 10k ( so that 123.ie best way to save bla bla .. it's just a funny add )

XSdirect

- we do not insure a car if it's older then 10 years ( :? )

FBD

- What car , Nissan ?
- no Mitsubishi FTO
- F 2 0 ?
- NO !!! FTO , it's a coupe japonese car ............
- ( after 4.30 min ) oh sorry we do not insure sport cars .
(bull$ as the car was on FBD insurance when i bought it )

so quinn saves the day for us.

PS : it's preposterous the way the insurance works here in Ireland .

I had over €1000 difference between quotes, it makes you wonder just how much regulation there is...

I tried XS too last year and one of the first questions I was asked before what type of car was the value and how old. I was with 123.ie last year, and had the car down as valued at 8K so that knocks the 10K value requirement on the head. Seb how is your TFT with Quinn E500 more than mine (I'm with Quinn now) when I'm 28 with only 2 yrs ncb? I'm only paying E783 for TFT.

Surely refusing to insure a car on the basis it is over 10 years old is not legal. If it has an NCT it is road legal. Just to piss them off I would request in writing why they are not willin to quote. Always as to speak to a supervisor

the policy is in HER name & i am 2nd driver ( when i got a qoute for me it was over 4K  - last year that is- i'm 26 , 1 year NCB , full Eu licence for the last 7 years ) . it was the only way to ensure the car apparently at the time.

i'm thinking to upgrade to full comprehensive ..

Rory .. they will probably give me a ridiculous quote when i ask them that.
anyway She was on the phone getting those quotes . if it was me maybe i would have had some things to say to them :smt021
