FTO Air filter/air flow meter

When i bought my car the previous owner had removed the original air filter set up including the air flow meter and all piping, replacing it with a straight forward huge pipe with a huge filter.
Since i have the car i had trouble with it running properly, lousy idle and hesitating badly when i put my foot down, at first i thought it may be the stepper motor and the clutch that were playing up but now i'm wandering if taking the air flow meter has had an effect.

Has anybody had problems with removing the air flow meter

The GPX model doesn't have an airflow meter I'm afraid, so you're not missing anything.

I find it hard to believe that your setup would have anything to do with that symptom, unless of course you have something blocking your filter / piping.

GPX has a MAP sensor in the setup , not related to the air pipes

Thanks, at least i can rule that out as a problem, i'll get a stepper motor and see if it changes anything

I tried that but it made no difference

Im nearly sure that there is a vaccum pipe that goes from the map sensor to the plenum, check for any cracks holes.

Turned out to be stepper motor (changed it and it now idles ok)

Hesitation when i put my foot down was caused by a knackered clutch slave cylinder, every time i depressed the clutch it was shooting fluid all over my engine. With where it is i didn't find it until i removed the battery and both trays! It had lost a LOT of fluid.
