Wheels and Offsets...help!

Postby adrian » Wed Feb 04, 2004 10:51 am

Off sets and wheels.....
My sister bought a set of 17''Khan copies for for 206 off a lad who had a 306. They look well, very well on the 206 but one was bit cracked so she needs to get a new one. When my brother called the Alloy Centre in NI and explained what he needed the fella in the place said

"You'd need to get me the offset of that wheel as if they came from a 306 the offset might be a bit different then a 206 and they might sit out over the arch a bit."

Now, the problem: They DO sit out a bit but they fit and look great....so, are they dangerous of anything?? Can she just get the same one again so it looks the same as the other 3 or is this not recommended??

Thanks a Million lads,

A

If you use wheels with the incorrect offset, you're going to affect the handling in some way, depending on the deviation, you may notice no difference or at the other end of the scale, tramlining might occur. Apart from that, you won't be doing any serious damage.

As long as you don't deviate more than 10mm per wheel you should be fine. Search the web for 106/206 offset (ET) settings for more info.

offset

for some funny reason the pug runs a low offset of around ET25
basically the lower the offset , the further out the wheel will sit
peugeots use the same stud pattern as a ford but if you use a ford wheel ( Et38 >) the wheel will normally foul on the track rod end on the front
as it sits inboard to far.
