Overdue Refurb

Postby Bernard » Wed Jun 03, 2020 7:55 pm

After talking about it for the last few years the time has finally come to start work.
Yesterday I took the FTO out of the garage, today it started coming back in pieces.
I've started an Album on Google if anyone wants to follow the progress.

PS
Sorry for the bigness of the photo, google doesn't do forum links well.

The car is now stripped and is in much better condition than I thought.
Only two real problem spots, the rear chassis legs and just under the radiator.
The wings, arches and roof are all good.

Repair is starting soon and parts are going for blasting/powder coating.
The shopping list is being drawn up next week, hopefully everything needed will be available.
I've also been in touch with the painter, bit soon yet to book her in though.

The garage is filling back up with bits...

The subframe, ARBs. arms and other bits are back from powdercoating.
The replacement cross member I got from Gavo has been blasted and welded into place.
Other patching done today and more tomorrow, the chassis cleaned down and the rust converter and paint going on after that.
Should be a busy few days (for the mechanic) then the car is going for paint on Monday.
Hopefully back mid-August for reassembly.
I got all the bits, including the Blueflame exhaust in the post from Mike at Viamoto, always great to deal with.

Can't wait to have it back on the road.
