Seen that in your "introduce yourself" thread.
Thought it was a micro fire extinguisher, kinda wondered what was the point of it being that small.
Must be previous owners (ecentric previous owners) addition.

The flares are in the cars in case you break down and is used as an emergency indicator. I think it is only for safety over in Japan and not sure if it's law to have one if you broken down etc on the road.

No many FTO's have the original ones left in them.
I had some flares in my other jap car when was imported for me.

Flace comes as standard in the FTO ,
It's ilegal in Ireland . They are a rare find these days and worth around 20 quid .
Many of the FTO owners keep them for 'special ocasions'

I have one in my car. My brother would like one too, so if you wanna sell yours, I would be interested. Will pay £25 for you to send to Ireland.

What type of "special occasion" you talkin about Seb? I hope there is no crazy inauguration into the club where you have to dress up as Batman and run around the city with an fto flare or somethin mad like that. My next post will be FTO FOR SALE-----CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP

There is, of course, no such thing as 'superhero convention'. I would have thought you'd know better than to mention it mffto.

Any further discussion of the superhero convention meets, or indeed any other allegations of superheroism, secret meets, flare parties etc will be dealt with severely.

Flare is standard on all Japanese cars, its so emergency services can find people stuck on motorways quickly. Some are removed when the cars come through the customs check when they are brought in to Ireland or once they leave Japan, some do get through, mine is still in the car for example and was never removed. Came close to using it once in a convoy coming from a county final but I wouldn't dream of it now.

Is it the type of flare one would use at sea or the kind the american poliza use on the ground for checkpoints and R.T.A's?

As far as I know you light it, and place it on the ground a few metres away from the car, sort of like a hazard triangle. Burns for a good bit just to give visibility for other road users and also so the emergency crowd can find you.

They're not legal in ireland, but I don't know about the UK. I must remember to take it out for the NCT and replace with my superhero umbrella.

I've had mine in for 3 ncts and no ones ever said anything, to be honest I don't think they have a clue what it is, and its not in the checklist so they won't bother with it.

Good point. And if they try to fail me on anything after all the money I spent on the car, I can threaten them with a burning flare
