Tyre Slasher!!!

Just wondering, im in XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and going back to late 2008 to early 2010 there was a serious spate of tyre slashings.
10-15 households in my estate were targeted with 4 of them being friends family's homes.
Through the 12 to 18months every house was repeatadly targeted with 1 or 2 of each house having a random number of tyres slashed on any given night. There was no routine to when it happened, happened on random nights and the victims were random out of the 10-15 houses. Sometimes they did just 1 tyre of a car in a driveway and sometimes they did all the tyres of all the cars in the same driveway.
Dont have the figures to what damage was done but have heard rumours of €40,000+ .
However a friend living in the estate profited well from owning a security company that specialised in cctv, he gave a generous discount to the residents that were targetted by this slasher in our estate and the neighbouring estate it was happening in. In total over 12 grand was spent on cctv installation.
Their efforts were fruitless though, little was ever seen except for a bloke wearing a dark colored huddy.
I heard a while back about someone talking about someone locally getting done for slashing tyres in XXXXXXXXX. I did some digging and came up with this earlier tonight.

Just wondering if its possible it would be the same person, no proof of course but alot of residents would like swift justice as they had to cover the cost of new tyres themselves.
The victims had no links either, young/old, black/white, rich/poor.
Anybody else in surrounding areas experienced this?

Are you saying that you suspect your friend of drumming up some business for his CCTV company? It wouldn't be unheard of - I'd be looking at a local tyre company myself as possible culprits - when its that random over such an extended period of time I'd be looking to see who would profit from such acts.

Ha ha there was actually a running joke about him doing it over drumming up business but i couldnt see him doing it. He only got into cctv's over all this, he mostly dealt in alarms before hand.
There was a new independant tyre fitting company that moved into an old unit up the road and the rumour got around to the police eventually so they investigated but he was cleared when he proved it wasnt him.

Sorry didnt realise adding locations was off limits.
Just wondering if anyone else came across anything similiar in South Dublin.
The news article is about an incident thats not far from me. Dunno if it was the same person doing it, dont think so but the bloke that was found guilty has his address listed as just down the road from me.
