Looks sweet! Alloys suit it, and the t-bar is a nice addition to a car.
Who did you get the insurance with do you mind me asking and was it much?

Nice MR2. Lovely alloys, really suit it.

Interesting about the classic policy. I have to wait another year to get mine on that! :(

Cheers Lads,

Yeah the classic policy is what made me go for it,
ill probably only drive it some weekends and in the summer.
It will also give the fto a bit of a break from time to time.

So hold on a minute - does this mean that all our insurance woes will be over in about 4 years when the FTOs start hitting the 20 year old mark ?

I asked that question on a post a few months ago and I think it depends on the insurer was the general consensus. Some companies deem classic to be +30 years.
Yet again the clarity in the Irish insurance market is as great as always.

Hi,

The best way to go about it would be to join an classic or vintage club, they will then put you in contact with the insurance company which the club has ties with.
In my case when i ring my insurance company that i have the mr2 insured with, i ask to be put thru to the person who deals with classic insurance.

@Kace
Yeah, there does not look to be any grouping system regarding the classic vehicles.
In my case 20 years was deemed a classic by the insurance company and vintage and classic club.
So yeah 94 fto's should be no prob to insure in 2014 as long as things stay the same.

I was able to get a 19 year old Saab on classic insurance. They wouldn't insure a standard 900 Turbo, but when I told them it was a Carlsson special edition they said they would.... that was First Ireland in Phibsboro.

Bizzare to think that yokes like Starlet GT's etc could be classics soon....

Wonder about the Figaro, herself is mad to get one, they came out in 91, they MUST be a classic.

Lovely car by the way Gerry, you've got me thinking!
