Stereo Repairs

Postby soc » Tue May 27, 2003 9:10 am

Hey, my had unit is playing funny beggars - everynow and then stops, does nothing and then continues playing the cd. Also sometimes it actually turns itself off. As well as all this the background lighting on the display has stopped working and only the speakers on the passenger side of the car are now working. I've had the head unit out and can't find any loose, unconnected wires. I suppose I need to get a professional to look at it. Anyone got any recommendations?

It's a jap pioneer - must've come in from japan with this cd player in the car. It's a 12 disk changer with remote and cassette - it's definitely a couple of years old.....

I'm actually thinking of getting a single disk head unit instead....

You could give the this crowd a shout, they distribute Pioneer products nationally so they might know who services head units etc:

Audio Vision Import LTD. (Pioneer distributor)
service: (+353) 1 240 5643
Info & service: dermot.paisley@avi.ie

That said, like someone I know recently did ;), I'd throw the stereo in the bin and buy a decent unit like this:

http://www.jvc.co.uk/product.php?id=KD- ... id=29&lid=

It sounds the biz 8)

How much did it cost you? Mine ain't the most modern looking unit but it's got great sound with good additional functions - well it did before it started to play funny games.....
