Guys, if you're up for the karting meet in March , please add your name to the list, can you also vote on your preferred date, I've limited the dates to 2 to keep things simple. If you can't go on any particular date, please specify the date in your reply. Once we get numbers together, we can look at booking the track.

Saturday March 18th is day after Paddys Day - probably better to avoid this weekend - esp if we were going to do an overnight.

Don't really mind personally - I'll be there in any event.

Good point, I've changed the poll option to the 11th.

We haven't really discussed an overnight option, my feeling was that it was going to be a day only event (I was of the opinion that Edgeworthstown night life would have been a bit on the quiet side!), that said, lets open it up for discussion and get some views.

I just can't tell that far in advance these days...3 weeks travel = 1 week's notice (if I'm lucky) although it should calm down after this one hopefully...

Just a thought (and pardon my ignorance of geography here), is that far from the geezer who does the rolling road?

You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen, it said 'Parking Fine'.

I've emailed Midland Karting with regard to making a booking for the 11th of March, at this stage, I'm not sure if a deposit is required, I'll let you guys know once I hear back.

OK guys, Saturday 25th of March is confirmed, stick it in your diary!
Theres no real limit on numbers (within reason) so don't be shy if you havn't already put your name down. We'll organise the logistics closer to the date.

What's the plan on this? Is it an overnighter?

Shane, I've had no feedback on the following comment:

CJ wrote:We haven't really discussed an overnight option, my feeling was that it was going to be a day only event (I was of the opinion that Edgeworthstown night life would have been a bit on the quiet side!), that said, lets open it up for discussion and get some views.

What do people think? My personal preference would be for a day only event, that said, I'm open to suggestion.

I guess if we were going to stay it would we could go out in Longford town or mullingar. Not sure of the distances? Whats the nightlife like up there?

I’d be on for a day trip, bit to close to justify an overnight but saying that It can be very dangerous hopping straight back into your car after an hour or two in go-karts with your foot to the floor.

Longford town is actually a grand place to stay - was there not so long ago with the hurling team - stayed in a good hotel in the centre of town - good nightlife too. Accomadation is very reasonable - I can get prices if ye like.

The advantage of the overnight is that you at least get to properly meet with people - they don't just boot away home after the event. Anyone who stayed in Kinvara last year after the karting will tell you we had great craic. You can also have a couple (or ten for CJ & Dave) of pints and fall into the leaba safe in the knowledge you don't need to get back into the car till morning (again late afternoon for CJ and Dave).
