Discovered something a bit...diffrent

Postby Chris_Heilong » Thu Aug 30, 2012 10:55 pm

Discovered something a bit...diffrent about my car. It has red doorhandle lights. I remember Colm asking about door handle light fittings in his doors a few years back. These come on when the head lights turn on. These would be class if they where white light but red looks so tacky.
here is a pic.

and here is the moment I discovered them.

Cool. I didn't know these were available. Nice little mod. Looks like you mirror glass and window seals need a bit of swamp thing removal.

Found a pair of the lights, but only seem to be able to find red.

EDIT: Found blue.

But you could buy any led strips and stick them into place. Would do the same job.

And because you already have them wired up, you could simply replace the led units and hook up white led strips to the wiring in situ. But if I were you, i'd go for blue. Your seats are blue afer all

Personal taste and all....
I can't help but put these in the same category as illuminated washer jets and stick on chrome trim, sorry.

Ah no!!! I just finished wrapping 18 meters of chrome trim around my car today

On a more serious note...I do hate the illuminated washer jets, but I like the illuminated handles, as it's more subtle. In saying that...i'm on two minds about under car led lights. I have a full set, but didn't get them installed. I just didn't feel right about it tbh. I'd be more inclined to put them on the zafira than the fto now. :?:

I think white lights would be very classy and useful when passengers are getting into the car at night.

Indeed. I'm sick and tired of having to bring a torch with me every time i need to find the handle at night to open the door.

Just admit it. You like the handle lights. As Bernard says..."personal taste". I like em and would install these on mine.

I'd like a white set to come on with the interior lights when I unlock the car...

I was thinking exactly the same. Hooking them up to the courtesy lights.

Hooking them to courtesy lights is the way to go, if you have remote locking they'll come on when you unlock.

If for nothing else, but for safety, that's a great idea. Parking lights hooked up to courtesy lights. Genius.
