I took a bit of a recci up the road to the tunnel we are visiting over the weekend. I couldn't take the fto so i don't know what the sound will be like. I was in a 1.4 Civic which just isn't the same.

There are road works on both sides of the tunnel, some of which weren't sign posted so it will have to be a very cautious spin up the mountain. A friend of mine met the unmarked bits in a Citroen Berlingo laden with tools, so he had a bit of a scary moment. It's a narrow road anyway but it would be nice if they finished off the work in the mean time to avoid the bone shaking.

How are the numbers looking for accomodation and stuff?

Guys

Trying to finalise details of the meet on June 11/12/13
5 double rooms booked for the Saturday 11th and Sun 12th.
I have arranged the dive boat for Sunday so we can get a trial dive in for those that are up for it – its very much a rookie dive in a shallow lagoon so don’t worry if you’re not a good swimmer. From the dive site we’ll go on to a remote island off the coast for a BBQ and a few beers.

I’m not really sure about booking the paintball for the Saturday – It’s a bit of a trip for those coming from Dublin – so I think we’d be better off just getting settled in Kenmare on the Saturday – There are some nice drives around and I’d like to get the tunnel in as well. Its good landscape for the photos so we should make use of this on Saturday. Saturday evening can then be spent in Kenmare at our leisure – have a meal and a few drinks etc.

Costs now as follows – B&B €25 per person per night
Dive €65 per person inc all dive equipment, trial dive instruction ,dive boat and BBQ – (you do not have to dive to avail of the BBQ – but you’ll be sitting on the boat)

Can I get conf of who is def going. I need to conf B&B and pay for the dive numbers.

Remember we are staying on the Saturday and Sunday night – back on the Monday – so ye’ll need to take the Monday off.

Steelroe mentioned to me that he would try and make this as well. I’ll knock him a PM to see what his story is.
I have PajEvo + 1 and a few other couples that also want to go – but its FTO owners first.
The trip is limited to a max of 6 couples for both accommodation and dive boat purposes.

Conf names – 1 : MfFTO + 1 (2nights accom + 2 x dive)

Guys - Its Decision day for this trip - I may have one other FTO coming (my Cousins facelift GS Manual) - and possibly Steelroe at some stage as well.
If anyone wants to make it for just a day trip then let me know as well and we can arrange to meet.

I have to finalise accomadation etc - so any slack will be taken up by some other performance Japs - PajEvo etc.

C'mon lads, it would be great to see a few more of you at this meet.

What are we talking drive time from Dublin, 5 hours? Early start on the Saturday morning methinks. MfFTO, what sort of time did you want to get people together at?

hey folks, i don't think Karl will be making this meet, he's flying out to the states today and won't be back till next weekend so i doubt he'll be up for it.

No panic for the Saturday CJ - Just getting to Kenmare and getting settled should be enough activity for one day especially for anyone coming from Dublin. Sunday will be the day for a short spin from Kenmare to Glengariff and a spin out the peninsula for short (v easy) dive and b-b-q etc.

If ye want to meet me in Limerick on the Saturday early afternoon on the way through then great - we can start from there.

I'll get a few others to make up the numbers for the accom and boat. I would have prefered FTO owners but at this stage I'll be inviting a couple of others.

Someone needs to make sure you get a video of a few Mivecs heading through that tunnel !!! 8)

Can't wait for the port tunnel - 4.5km, although if they have any sense they will make it like Mont Blanc and have speed cameras every few hundred meters to avoid a fireball catastrophe

Cousin is bringing his FTO along for Saturday.

Why did he go from GR to GS - even with a tip box the GR would still be way ahead of a manual GS in terms of performance.....?

I don't think performance is the first thing on his FTO wish-list. He wanted a manual as he didn't like the tip box and he wanted as clean an FTO as possible - this car has 30K miles and is as clean an FTO as you are likely to find - has the Version R spoiler, new 17's and is a facelift. I would be more performance orientated myself - but I didn't have a say in this one.

This is the guy based in the Abbeyleix area? What colour is the car? I'll keep an eye out for it.

Yip thats the chap - Its red Mustang - I seem to recall a thread you had about the car when it came up for sale (can't find it now) - it came in on steel rims - immediately changed to 17's.

Why Mitsubishi ever had a car like an FTO on steel rims is beyond me.
