changed oil filter

Postby funkygreendogs » Mon May 14, 2012 4:46 pm

I got a new oil filter in Halfords for my GR FTO, but it didnt have the car listed so I got the same one as they have for Mitsubishi Lancer.
Is that okay to do that? It fitted perfectly but the bottom of it was slightly smaller at the base and there were more holes which were smaller than the one that was already in the FTO

If in doubt, I'd be inclined to go with a Galant oil filter instead, see here:

You may not get the right flow rate with a filter intended for another application.

Yeah that list was exactly what it looked like in halfords too, all three cars used the same filter so I assumed FTO was similar.
Its seems fine anyways, but having said that I wouldnt know what to look for if it was causing some issue

For the sake of an extra couple of quid I'd just get one from a Mitsi dealer.
