My new baby

Postby ottostreet » Sun Apr 17, 2011 3:17 pm

Hey guys, bought myself another FTO as I regretted selling my GPX.

Bought a black tiptronic GPvR from another members, a real gentleman, very straight with me from start to finish!

Anyway, the car is a bit rough around the edges...nothing too bad, but definitely needs a few hundred pumped into it.

Here she is right now:

Booked in for the NCT now and I'll see what she needs. Then I start work on restoring the paintwork/rustproofing and some small mods...very excited!

lol, no, but I did get to see it!

Ah I'm really enjoying being back in an FTO...it drives beautifully, apart from a bit of a pull from a sticky caliper. Looking forward to NCT'ing it, and getting a good idea of where I stand with it!

Very nice, well wear. Have to say, doesn't look like it needs much done to it, just a few mechanical bits is it?

It's more common in Ireland than in its country of origin? Well, I can't complain about that!

I've always wanted a black mivec FTO, and the fact its a GPVR just makes it that little bit sweeter!

OK, one of the first things I want to do is to rustproof the underside of the car.

I've had a look on Ebay and I see there is 2.5 litre application kits from Waxoyl on it.

Would this be enough? Also, does anyone know anyone who would apply it for me? I don't have access to a ramp or any equipment to get under the car. Or if anyone has a ramp and willing to give me a hand, we could work something out! :D

OK, failed the NCT today on a few things:

Brake calipers being sticky (which I knew about)
Steering rack gaiters (which I didn't)
Headlight alignment.

Are the steering wheel gaiters shared with anything else in the Mitsubishi range?

Ring mitsubishi with your chassis number and theyll tell you straight away or next best camskil
Your goina need a caliper service kit too, 40 yoyos in misubishi garage or 28 delievered from camskil
Only done mine a few weeks ago

Cleaned up my engine bay today. Looks pretty nice...have to repaint the Mitsubishi and MIVEC V6 bits and bobs but overall, much cleaner.

Only bad thing is that the HID on the RHS has stopped working.

switch over the bulbs ,if the rhs is still the same could be the ballast, id invest in a new hid kit of it is or if its the bulb change the two of them

Can't get in at the bulb the way it is, I'll have to head out to my parents so I have access to a few tools to get in at the bulbs!

Hopefully it is just a bulb. And I have to repaint the MIVEC V6 & MITSUBISHI as well.

Ordered new pads and discs from Camskill today as well. How long do they normally take to deliver?

No need for a new kit, HIDs come standard in GPvRs. Osram bulbs available for €40 from a dude in Germany myself and MJ bought from. Replace the two, it's a balls of a job anyway taking the bumper off and the bulbs will be different colours.
