Just received carbon fibre dash kit from Import Scene

Postby soc » Tue Apr 08, 2003 1:23 pm

Went out at lunchtime and fitted the dash kit. It's pretty easy to fit. Not sure if I really like it - initial impressions are that it looks a bit too much like a stick on kit. Maybe it will grow on me. Gonna leave it for a couple of days but I reckon my fiance will tell me to get rid when she sees it tonight. I'll try and get some pics.

I was going to buy this kit but ended up painting the centre console in the end (and doing a half @rsed job of the upper pod). I would be interested in seeing a few close up pics.

ciara,

my advice would be to steer clear - unless you'd be happy to settle for something that does not look professional. This kit didn;t fit the dash perfectly so you ended up with gaps between the kit and the edge of the console.

If you really want to do something like that you'd be better off getting some of the flat sheets/films from the likes of demon tweeks and then dismantling the dash before fitting.

Personally - having seen the kit on the car I reckon the best way to improve the FTO interior is to leave the dash itself alone and then get some really proper quality parts like the type-f stuff. and maybe some really nice seats, mats and one or two additional guages.

Btw, funkyproduct have a carbon fibre dash panel (for speedo) - am thinking that might look nice with some deep dish dial rings.....

Not an option really, someone else might not think they look so bad, why not try selling the kit, it wasn't all that cheap after all. Now did you take a pic or not?

can't sell the kit unfortunately cause it got wrecked when I took it off. No pics either cause I was soooo disappointed with the look that I just took it off as quick as possible. once again I learn the hard way, if you try to be too fancy but take shortcuts then it just doesn't work... the best way to do the interior like that would be to get a second centre console and then carbon fibre it or paint it before fitting it to the car. ah well, you win some you lose some. caliper paint next!!! hope that works..... :)
