Yea we need to plana route, and decide on a town/village to stay in. I'm not familiar with the area, so open to suggestions.

I don't know the area too well myself but we could head towards Roundwood and onto Laragh and possibly down to Avova (pics).

One thing to be mindful of is that roads in this part of the Wicklow 'Mountains' are liable to frost and ice well into Spring i.e. we'll have to send MfFTO down the N11 for safety reasons.

Again, if anyone knows the area, please shout. We would want to be booking accomodation pretty soon.

Don't worry about MfFTO - 0 points and not a scratch on a car in 18years of driving.

I think Powerscourt Waterfalls would be an excellent spot for a photoshoot.

Avoca is a great place for an overnight - http://www.irishtourist.com/wicklow/towns/avoca/

Nice very senic village with a good choice on accomodation as well.

Attached are two guest houses which both look suitable (my preference being the one with the pub attached :smt030

If you check out the map (zoom out) they both seem to be a distance from Avoca though, despite being advertised as in Avoca. I'm not familiar with the area so not sure. Anyone know for definite MyfeckinFTO?
Price looks good ~€35 to €37.50 pps.

I think they are both fairly close to the village if not in it - theres no major advantage to being in the village anyway - theres only a couple of pubs. Better to book into the Pub/B&B I reckon especially if CJ and Dave come along - at least they won't have far to fall.

Ideally, we would all want to be staying in a single B&B - if they happen to have 7 rooms available on the day (hence the need to reserve soon). I would suggest that we book one of the B&B in the next day or two for the current list and recommend the other for people who decide to come on board later on. I'll make a couple of phone calls and post up the reply.

Good point! This shouldn't be a deciding factor though - assuming you stick to your usual shandy drinking antics, we'll have someone to carry us home ;)

Good stuff CJ. try and find out the proximity to the village of the robin's nest (or any other suitable venue). Don't necessarily need to be in the village but at least within walking distance of a nice restaurant. I'd prefer not to be in a completey isolated guesthouse.

I spoke with the gentleman in the Old Couchhouse, they have 6 rooms that are all free for the Saturday night. He said that he would be happy to liase with the Robins nest (who have 4 rooms) in an effort to accomodate the group and look after all of the payments rather than have us run around with two sets of bookings. The B&B is approx 1.5 miles from the town, he also mentioned that theres a restuarent and pub 300 yards down the road.

This sounds like a good option, at present, we have a requirment for 9 rooms which leaves one spare between both guest house. Does this sound like a runner? If so, come back to me soon and I'll get things in motion this afternoon.

Sounds like a plan - lets book them -we can call up with our Credit cards and book accordingly. First come first served on the rooms - when they're booked just put your name up and where you have booked so we know where theres availability left.

Attention everyone who will be staying overnight at the 5 year anniversary meet!

There are two options in terms of accomodation:

1. 2 seperate B&Bs located near Avoca (Old Couch House & Robins Nest) @ 70 euro per double room

2. The Woodenbridge Hotelnear Arklow @ 95 euro per double room (breakfast included).

I've created a poll on this topic, if you're planning on staying overnight please vote, if you're not staying overnight don't vote.

Ideally, it would be better to have everyone together but theres a cost factor with this option. Please get your vote in by 4pm on Tuesday and we can get moving with booking etc.

If we can all stay in the Hotel then its a no brainer for me. €95 inc breakfast for 2 people is a good rate.

Agreed, Hotel looks like best option to get everyone together, they have two restaurants, and also do pub grub.
