ok so im sellin my 2 horses cuz i dont have time for em and im tryin to decide what to buy wit the money! OBV im not gonna flog it all on the car cuz well just cuz! haha! so i have a few tings i mite buy but im not sure which to get:
a) set of HID'd
b) grooved discs and green stuff pads and some other lil bits and pieces that i havent decided on yet!
or shud i wait till i get more money and just but a set of brembos?

also does ne1 know how much it costs to get a manifold chromed??? and ne where that does it?

Dont know why people go mad for these lights. Personally I'd forget those. I'd get something that'l change the look of the car(eg bodykit, respray, new upholstery) Something to make it look different than your average fto. Thats just my opinion.

I disagree, HIDs are a great investment when you consider the low level of light from the standard dipped beams. (Karl, I think I preferred the blue btw, pinks a bit - dare I say it! )

Grooved disks and pads are a good investment if fast road driving is your thing, ditto for Brembos. The latter will reduce the stopping distance quite significantly.

Everyone to their own, but I'd be inclined to go for mods that increase reliabilty and power over cosmetic mods.

Just think its a waste, its not like you cant see enough with ordinary bulbs or those ice whites and what have you. Its not like your going to see anymore with HID's and they're bad on the eye's for other drivers (as they are very bright). Dont know bout anyone else but I find because your so low to the ground that i often get blinded by other drivers headlights especially jeeps, vans and trucks. As i said just my opinion though.

I'd tend to disagree - on a dark rainy backroad it can be difficult to see an awful lot with just the dims..Fogs help.. but HIDs are a definate safety mod.

I haven't got them myself - but they're on my TO-DO list. Hopefully I'll get them before it really gets dark in the mornings.

People have been driving for years without the aid of these HIDs down backroads on rainy days for years. Its not the light thats the problem its people not driving to the conditions thats the problem. Anyhu we're getting off the point a bit sorry ms. enzo. , I've already given my opinion.

The brakes is a good idea as i've read on some sites that the standard brakes aint the best. Out of your options thats what I'd do, wait for the brembo might as well get the best available if your going to change

Sorry for going OT here but I'm inclined to agree - Karl, its very difficult reading your posts when you use coloured fonts, please use black and make it easy for the rest of us. Coloured text should be used for highlighing purposes only, contrary to what you might think, the forum doesn't need brightening up!

For HIDs, have to say I found them a very worthwhile investment, my lights before that were absolutely rubbish, even with the fancy philips whatever they were bulbs in. When I drove the car first when it wasn't completely dark (but getting there) I seriously asked myself if the lights were actually on!

Having said that, if you drive in mostly town (and thus lit) areas its not such an issue.

Brakes are always a good thing to improve too though... can't beat being able to stop quickly! Ms enzo, is yours a GS, or GR or GPX or GX or... ? Where I'm going with that is if you have a GS/GR you might be better off looking into upgrading to GPX front brake calipers (or better) rather than spending much on GS/GR discs and pads.

@karl i understand where ur comin from wit other drivers hating HIDs but i HAVE to drive wit my fogs on to see anythin and im sure they hate that too!! and yes i do have the fancy philips bulbs in too! but they made no difference really!

as for my overall aim for the car...... i was advised against gettin a respray cuz "it never looks as good as the original" was tinkin bout puttin in more speakers but decided on performance b4 cosmetic.... i dont wanna change the styling mine is fairly unique cuz its a facelift model and has the GPvp(?) spoiler. besides i love the look of my car as it is only ting i would do is drop it but at that im reluctant cuz i dont wanna ruin the "comfort!!" haha!

Drop it using tein lowering springs and you wont lose your comfort. I did mine a few weeks ago and the handling was improved a good deal even with standard dampers. Comfort is usually lost when you replace your suspension with coilovers due to the vastly increased spring rates, unless you spec up softer springs when ordering.

Ya, I didn't really notice much loss in comfort when I put on Apex lowering springs either, its when the 17" wheels (with the lower profile tyres) went on I noticed a difference in comfort levels.

Aye the lowering springs themselves don't make a big difference in comformt levels - but the low profile rubber definately do.

(I run a 35 profile rubber, way too low for the back roads)

id love to lower it but hell its hard enuf get out of it as it is!!! id be like a granny gettin out if it was any lower!!!

hmm im torn between the brakes and the lights!! gonna get both at some stage just dunno which to get first!

If you get the breakes you'll be spending the winter driving around in the dark - however you'll force yourself to get the HIDs before next winter.

If you get the lights you'll be able to see where you're going - and you'll be likely to forget about getting the brakes.

I'd get the brakes

Get HIDs i have them on mine and they rock.. especially once you flick them on .... always when people are around then turn and go 'what the heck is that' .... kind of goes from really blue to icey white over the course of 2 seconds!

My nod goes to the HIDs, the GPX brakes aren't too bad but the std lights are terrible.

Dunno about chroming, but there was a guy on ftooc that polished them up, got them very shiney.

Do it yourself sure.. i've polished loads of alumi parts and they come up great.... if i get board i'll do mine and do a how to ...
